Home Inspectors and Domestic Energy Assessors are frustrated and concerned about the lack of Government support to roll out HIPs to the 1 and 2-bed domestic market. This should have happened weeks ago when the target number of licensed DEAs was exceeded. However, pressure from various sources has meant that CLG has failed to roll out the remaining HIPS and have seriously let down DEAs and HIs who have trained to provide the promised service. Many are now facing ruin, and must move out of this newly created industry. Fee levels have plummeted whilst volume of instructions is much lower than anticipated.
Pack providers are also in chaos with millions invested in meeting targets to achieve anticipated HIP numbers that were significantly overstated. Encouraged by CLG to put this industry together, the HIP pack providers are understandably nervous about their future. They are also angry about the delays created by CLG.
HIs, DEAs and pack providers have been abandoned by the Government. CLG must now look to compensate for the chaos created.
Industry Melt down!
